A Member Owned Recreational Park
Wishing you all well as we get ready for Halloween fun, where ever you are.
The picture is of our initial efforts to propagate edibles for a new Community Food Forest for SLSR this summer.
A small but dedicated group of gardeners have planted fig, grapes, hazelnut, walnut, salmon berry, blueberry, chives, sorrel and a dwarf cherry tree.
Food Forests are usually naturalized without need for planters or other structures. The side back fence of maintenance works well as a starting trellis for the young grape plant but ideally, they will climb up the fig that grows beside them.
The food that we grow would not feed many of us, but serves as a valuable educational demonstration of what is possible for food security with prepping in mind.
We are grateful for plant donations If anyone has other plants that propagate clones, such as raspberry canes, strawberry shoots, or other fruit trees to pant next spring.
We look forward to watching our Food Forest grow and wish everyone well until we all meet again next year!
Thank you
